PRESCHOOL/KINDERGARTEN CREATIVE MOVEMENT & CREATIVE DRAMA

 

FUN, FOUNDATIONAL CLASS focusing on movement, music and creativity! Students will learn to move to music and beginning dance and drama principles. We will use our imaginations! Student will explore cultures, diversity and build an appreciate for community.​​​

DANCE & DRAMA FOR TEENS AGES 13-17 YEARS OLD

 

Acting and Total Theater
The teens will explore every aspect of the theater and dance production.  This group will work with professionals in the community to build their craft and learn more about the elements of theater and dance.  

Our teen dance program incorporates fitness, ballet, jazz, modern, African, and hip hop dance. The dancers have an opportunity to use the technique learned in class as inspiration for original choreography. The teen program focuses on performance skills and confidence. Teens create original works and explore the “motivation” behind pieces of theatrical works. 

Jazz and Hip Hop I and II
Jazz and Hip Hop class is a fun class that lets you forget about the conformity of the other techniques. This is a street style of dance open to interpretation from each individual. It involves using energetic moves to express the feeling you get from the music. This class introduces hip hop culture, bboy/bgirl style, funk, and intro to breaking.  Level II is building on foundational work and introducing choreography. Coed class. Students wear comfortable dance attire. No jeans. 

Modern and Contemporary
This class is based on Modern Dance technique. Curriculum explores legendary dancers and choreographers. Students learn to move freely and interpret the music, and be expressive. Students also learn improvisation and begin to choreograph their own pieces.  Coed class. Students wear comfortable dance attire. No jeans.

Ballet I
This class solely focused on the fundamentals of ballet, ballet terminology, and the foundation of ballet as the basis for all other dance forms.  Female students need pink tights, black leotards, and pink ballet shoes (no slippers). Hair must be back off the face. Male students need black shorts (no gym shorts) or black athletic pants (all black, cotton material), a solid colored t-shirt (no words, logos, or pictures) and black dance shoes (no sneakers). This is a formal ballet class. 

Ballet II/Lyrical
This class builds on the fundamentals of ballet. This class translates to level 3-4 in leveled classes. Students will work on strength, combinations, turns, performance skills and  solid technique. Female students need pink tights, black leotards, and pink ballet shoes (no slippers). Hair must be back off the face. Male students need black shorts (no gym shorts) or black athletic pants (all black, cotton material), a solid colored t-shirt (no words, logos, or pictures) and black dance shoes (no sneakers). This is a formal ballet class.   

SCHOOL- AGE DANCE AND DRAMA PROGRAM

FOR CHILDREN 6-12 YEARS OLD

The students work on building the basis for dance – mind and body.  We focus on understanding our bodies and the way in which we are able to execute dance movement. Students will also learn acting techniques and creative drama principles. Participants will be allowed to let their imaginations run wild!

For Organizations    

Custom build a program for your daycare, preschool, day camp, or youth serving organization. It is easy and affordable to add the arts, culture, and physical fitness!  Choose your days, your focus area, and for as low as $5 per student per week, you can enhance your summer program. 

For Individual Students and Families

Your child loves ballet, but wants to try hip-hop. You know the actor within them would enjoy acting lessons. Who can afford all that? 

Pear Tree Performing Arts Summer Program allows you to enroll in as many classes as you would like,  for only $25 per month, per child. So, you can let your little performer or dramatic teen try them all!
